Ngườm Ngao Cave is one of the most beautiful and famous caves in Cao Bằng province, located in Đàm Thủy commune, Trùng Khánh, about 3km from Bản Giốc waterfall. This is an attractive tourist destination, drawing a large number of visitors from both domestic and international locations due to its majestic and mysterious beauty bestowed by nature.
Ngườm Ngao Cave was formed hundreds of millions of years ago due to the long process of limestone weathering. The cave is over 2,000 meters long with a system of stalactites and stalagmites that are incredibly rich and diverse. Each stalactite has unique shapes that stimulate human imagination, such as stone lotus buds, coral trees, silver waterfalls, sky pillars, or stone rice terraces.
Upon entering the cave, visitors will feel the cool atmosphere year-round, in stark contrast to the sweltering heat outside. The gentle yellow light shines on the stalactite formations, creating a shimmering scene like a palace underground. The sound of dripping water combined with the silence of the cave makes this place both mysterious and poetic.
