Essential notes when going to Cuc Phuong forest:
- Do not go into the forest alone: Especially in protected forest areas, the core area of the national park is often deserted and has no mobile signal. It is advisable to go with at least one friend, family member, or on a tour with a guide to ensure safety in case of emergencies.
- Do not get too close to wild animals or strange insects. Do not litter, pick flowers, or break branches.
- Be careful when moving in the forest: Avoid dangerous areas such as cliffs, rivers, caves, move slowly, and observe carefully. If going deep into deserted dense forest areas, mark your path or leave a trace.
- Notify the forest ranger in case of emergencies: Always keep the phone number of the forest management board and forest rangers so that if you encounter a situation you cannot handle yourself and if you are still in an area with mobile signal, you can call for help.
- Do not go into the forest when it is about to get dark, or when it is about to rain or windy: It is advisable to start your trip early and finish before dark to have time to return to your accommodation.
- Equip yourself with survival skills:
+ Stay calm and observe to find ways to handle unexpected situations such as insect bites, getting lost, or accidents.
+ Always carry a small knife (multi-tool), fire-starting tools, water, and snacks.
+ Learn how to use a map and compass, download topographic maps of your destination to navigate your way.
+ Wear bright clothing for easy identification, or learn how to create smoke signals during the day, and how to make a fire (or carry a flashlight) to keep warm and signal at night.
+ Learn basic first aid skills for cuts, scrapes, sprains of the ankle or wrist...
