The unfinished bell tower at Châu Sơn Monastery - a testament to boundless compassion.
According to the design, a 60m tall bell tower was to be built on the church, but to this day, the tower remains unfinished and will never be completed. In 1945, famine ravaged everywhere, spreading pain and grief. In light of this situation, Châu Sơn Monastery decided to use all the money allocated for the construction of the bell tower to support the local community. Thanks to the monastery's assistance, many people were able to get through this difficult period.
The monastery's help for the people reflects the spirit of mutual support and compassion. Halting the construction of the bell tower may be an architectural incompleteness, but it is complete in spirit.
For many parishioners and visitors to the monastery, the unfinished bell tower is not only a unique architectural work but also a symbol of great compassion, exemplifying the saying "Incompleteness creates the fullness of God".
