Bản Lù Stream – A watercolor painting amidst the mountains and forests of Bắc Kạn.
In the midst of the deep green forests of Tan Son commune, Cho Moi district, Bac Kan province (now part of Thai Nguyen province), there is a stream that still retains the pristine and peaceful beauty of the Northeast mountains. That is Ban Lu stream – a destination still quite new to many tourists but leaves anyone who sets foot there in awe of the majestic beauty bestowed by nature.
With its cascading white waterfalls, crystal-clear water year-round, and the surrounding pristine scenery, Ban Lu stream is likened to a watercolor painting in the vast wilderness.

The stream originates from the headwater forests
According to local people, Ban Lu stream originates from the high mountain peaks and the headwater forests of Tan Son commune. The water flows through rocky crevices, cascading down into many large and small waterfalls before flowing through Ban Lu village and continuing downstream through places like Vang Khu, Suong Peng, and the high waterfall area.
After a long journey through the mountains and forests, the water merges into the center of Tan Son commune before joining the poetic Cau River.
Thanks to the natural water source year-round and the surrounding primary forest ecosystem, Ban Lu stream always retains its fresh and cool beauty amidst nature.
A beauty like a fairyland
What impresses many tourists the most when visiting Ban Lu stream is its rare poetic scenery.
The stream is nestled between two towering rocky cliffs. On sunny days, the mist from the waterfalls rises, creating thin, light layers of fog, making the small waterfalls appear to be covered by a soft white veil.
Sunlight filtering through the forest canopy reflects on the clear water, creating shimmering, ethereal colors. From a distance, the whole area appears like a picturesque landscape painting amidst the vast wilderness.

The waterfall nearly 100 meters high in the primary forest
The most prominent highlight of Ban Lu stream is the main waterfall, which is about 100 meters high.
The water cascades down from above year-round, forming soft, white ribbons like silk amidst the green of the mountains and forests. The sound of flowing water echoes in the tranquil space, enhancing the grandeur of the landscape here.
From the top of the waterfall, visitors can gaze upon the entire surrounding area with its continuous mountain ranges and endless green forests.
The scenery, both majestic and poetic, makes this place a favorite destination for nature lovers and photographers.
The journey of exploration in the ancient forest
From the foot of the main waterfall, visitors can continue upstream to explore the areas of Suong Peng, Vang Khu, and many other pristine stream sections.
On both banks are primary forests that still preserve the natural ecosystem with many ancient trees and rare plant species. The crystal-clear water flows through large and small stones, creating countless mini waterfalls with multiple tiers.
The sound of the stream mingles with the chirping of forest birds and the cool atmosphere, creating a rare sense of relaxation. This is also an ideal place for trekking, picnicking, or simply seeking moments of peace amidst nature.
