Bac Kan Pedestrian Street – A New Meeting Spot by the Cau River

From 2024, the city of Bắc Kạn officially puts into operation the pedestrian street along the Cầu River, creating a new highlight for the cultural, tourism, and entertainment life of the locality. The street quickly becomes a place that attracts a large number of locals and tourists every weekend thanks to its spacious, airy space along with many attractive activities.

Located along Thanh Niên Street, on the south bank of the Cầu River, the pedestrian street brings a new look to the central area of Bắc Kạn city, contributing to creating a modern community living space while still retaining the cultural identity of the Việt Bắc region.

Scenic riverside street

The Cầu River pedestrian street is about 750m to nearly 1km long, stretching from the Đội Kỳ bridge area to Võ Nguyên Giáp street. The entire area has been uniformly renovated with a wide sidewalk system, greenery, vegetation, lighting, and decorative lights creating a beautiful space both day and night.

The special feature of the street is its location right next to the Cầu River – the famous river originating from Bắc Kạn. Every afternoon, many locals choose this place to stroll, enjoy the scenery, and breathe in the fresh air of the northeastern mountainous region.

Cultural space rich in Việt Bắc identity

One of the most attractive points of the Bắc Kạn pedestrian street is the cultural activities that bear the local imprint.

Here, programs of Then singing, đàn tính, folk music, folk dance, and traditional music of the ethnic minorities are regularly held. Tourists also have the opportunity to experience folk games, participate in bamboo dancing, watch street art performances, or enjoy special artistic programs.

Currently, the Bắc Kạn pedestrian street operates on Friday and Saturday evenings, from around 6 PM to 11 PM. This area is also equipped with free wifi to serve locals and tourists.
