Hidden among the mountains of Diên Khánh, Am Chúa is not only a spiritual relic but also the origin of one of the most distinctive festivals in Central Vietnam - the Am Chúa festival, which takes place in the early days of spring.
The festival begins with solemn, slow rituals, like a call to the roots. People come here to remember Thiên Y A Na Thánh Mẫu - the Mother of the homeland in folk beliefs, who has sheltered, nurtured, and bestowed life upon all beings.
In the tranquil forest space, wisps of incense rise, mingling with the sound of drums and gongs, creating an atmosphere that is both sacred and familiar. The procession of pilgrims stretches on, regardless of age, each carrying a very personal belief - some pray for peace, some for prosperity, but ultimately, they all seek a refuge for their souls.
The festival is not only a ritual but also a crystallization of culture. The shadow dances and the chants of chầu văn resonate in the forest space, as if bringing people back to the sediment layers of time - where belief, art, and life merge into one.
The special thing about the Am Chúa festival lies not in its grandeur but in its depth. It does not overwhelm people but rather allows them to pause. Amidst the enveloping natural scenery, one seems to find an invisible connection - with the past, with the heavens and earth, and with oneself.
