The Pác Bó historical site is the revolutionary base of Uncle Ho during the period from 1941-1945
In February 1941, after many years of wandering to find a way to save the country (1911 at the Nhà Rồng port). Uncle returned to the country and chose Trường Hà commune, Hà Quảng district, Cao Bằng province, now Trường Hà commune, Cao Bằng province as the revolutionary base.
In the early days, Uncle lived in Mr. Lý Quốc Súng's house, and later moved into Cốc Bó cave, Lũng Lạn cave, Khuổi Nặm hut.
Uncle named the stream where he often fished and worked as Lê Nin stream. The mountain is called Các Mác mountain. Next to the stream is a stone table where Uncle worked “The stone table precariously translates the Party's history, the revolutionary life is truly noble.”
Also here, in May 1941, the 8th Party Central Committee conference took place, determining the situation inside and outside the country, deciding to establish the Việt Minh Front, building the revolutionary base, developing guerrilla warfare, and launching an armed uprising to seize power throughout the country.
In December 1944, in Trần Hưng Đạo forest, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army was established under the command of comrade Võ Nguyên Giáp, consisting of 34 soldiers.
By May 1945, Uncle and his comrades left Pác Bó for Tân Trào, Tuyên Quang to direct and gather the people to participate in the General Uprising throughout the country, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, an independent state declared by President Hồ Chí Minh on September 2, 1945, ending the feudal and colonial regime. This is the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia, existing from 1945 to 1976 before unifying into the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
