QUY HẬU HAT – MORE THAN A CENTURY OF VIETNAMESE SOUL
Emerging in the early 20th century, Quy Hậu conical hats have become a humble yet proud symbol of the land of Lệ Thủy (Quảng Bình). The hat-making craft here was brought by two talented artisans: Mr. Nguyễn Văn Dỵ (Mr. Bộ Chiêm) and Mr. Đỗ Bá Mỡn (Mr. Giồng) around 1905 – 1906, laying the foundation for a craft village closely linked for over a hundred years with the skilled hands of many generations.
From slender bamboo rims and vibrant green palm leaves, under the meticulous hands of artisans, the Quy Hậu conical hat is created not only to shield from rain and sun but also to preserve the simple beauty of the Vietnamese people.
And today, amidst modern life, the conical hats still appear gracefully, a gentle reminder that traditional values always have a strong vitality when preserved with love and pride.
In 2008, Quy Hậu village was officially recognized as a traditional craft village, as a testament to the perseverance and dedication of many generations of artisans.
