Located at an altitude of about 1,000m, Xà Phìn is a small peaceful village nestled on the slopes of Tây Côn Lĩnh. I have returned to this place many times, and each time I find Xà Phìn beautiful in a very unique way.
In early autumn, this place dons the refreshing green of terraced fields, stretching along the mountainside. Interspersed are the stilt houses of the Dao people, thatched with palm leaves and covered in moss over the years - a beauty that cannot be created, only nurtured by time.
The layer of moss not only defines the character of Xà Phìn but also is part of how the locals live in harmony with nature: keeping the house cool in summer and warm in winter. Everything here happens very naturally, slowly, and peacefully.
From above, the whole village looks like a painting with gently winding rice paddies and solemn houses amidst the mountains and forests.
For me, Xà Phìn is not just a destination,
but a place to return to - each time I find my heart a little more at ease.
