🕯️ Memorial song on the land of fire – National Martyrs Cemetery of Route 9 & Truong Son
On the resilient land of Quang Tri, which was once the front line of bombs and bullets, there are two places that, once set foot on, make people's hearts sink - the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery and the National Road 9 Martyrs' Cemetery.
Two eternal candles between the sky and land of Central Vietnam, lighting up the memories of a bloody time, where the best sons of the Fatherland fell so that the country could blossom with independence.
Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery – Peaceful sleep in the middle of the great forest
On the slope of Ben Tat hill, Truong Son cemetery appears among the immense green of Truong Son forest.
More than 10,000 martyrs – mostly Truong Son soldiers and youth volunteers – lay dead here, along the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail.
They passed away at a very young age, leaving their youth to the country, so that today the country can have peace and freedom.
In the afternoon, when the last rays of sunlight fell on the rows of white stele trees, the space was silent as if time had stopped. Each candle, each incense stick with smoke was a silent tribute from today's generation to those who had incarnated into mother earth.
🌲 National Cemetery of Martyrs of Route 9 – A sad melody in the pine forest
Not far from Truong Son, the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Route 9 is located on the national highway that was once battered by bombs and bullets.
This is the resting place of more than 10,000 heroic martyrs - those who fought and sacrificed on the Route 9 front and the Lao battlefield.
Among the rows of straight pine trees, the stone tablets tilt in the wind, forever telling stories of bravery, camaraderie, and the aspiration to unify the country.
Every July, thousands of candles are lit, turning the cemetery into a shimmering sea of light – a sacred scene that makes anyone who witnesses it feel calm.
🇻🇳 Land of Fire – Land of Gratitude
Once a land of fire, now a land of gratitude.
Let's bow our heads, light a stick of incense, and give thanks to those who fell so that we can live in peace today.
Quang Tri is not only a place to mark losses, but also a destination to commemorate, pay tribute and contemplate the value of independence, freedom and peace.
