1. Overview of Thung Nham

Thung Nham eco-tourism area is located in the core region of the Trang An complex, and is one of the destinations that harmoniously combines eco-tourism, nature exploration, and cultural experiences. This place is characterized by its wetland ecosystem, caves, and especially the largest natural bird garden in the North.

2. Ecological and biodiversity values

Thung Nham possesses a diverse ecosystem with various terrains such as limestone mountains, primary forests, and wetlands. This is an ideal habitat for dozens of bird species, including many rare species such as herons, storks, and ducks…

Notably, the "natural bird garden" model is where bird species live and develop entirely in a wild environment without artificial intervention.

3. Outstanding experiences

3.1. Watching birds return to their nests

From 5 PM to 6 PM is the time when thousands of birds return to their nests, creating a lively and rare scene. This is a distinctive experience that few places can offer.

3.2. Exploring caves

Thung Nham has many natural caves such as But Cave, Vái Giời Cave… with a diverse stalactite system, holding high geological value.

The walking paths through the forest allow visitors to enjoy the fresh air, observe the ecosystem, and experience a close connection with nature.

4. Ideal times to visit

Thung Nham is suitable for visiting year-round; however, the ideal time is in the late afternoon – when the bird garden is most active. From September to April of the following year is the dry season, with cool weather, favorable for traveling and exploring the entire area.

Additionally, summer (May to August) although hotter, has lush greenery, suitable for those who love tropical forest spaces.

5. Local cuisine

The cuisine in Thung Nham and the surrounding area is rich in local flavors with dishes such as hill chicken, stream fish, mountain goat, and crispy rice. The dishes are often prepared in a traditional style, emphasizing the preservation of natural flavors.

Some restaurants in the tourist area also serve set menus for groups, suitable for visitors traveling in groups or families. Additionally, tourists can combine their stay at homestays to experience a more local dining experience.

  • Entrance ticket: about 100,000 – 150,000 VND/person
  • Boat ticket (if used): about 20,000 – 30,000 VND
  • Food: 120,000 – 350,000 VND/person

The total cost for a day trip usually ranges from 300,000 – 800,000 VND/person, depending on the level of experience and services used.
