It is recommended to go for 2 days and 1 night to avoid being too rushed. If starting from Hanoi, Ba Bể Lake is about 220–230km away, and the travel time usually takes about 5–6 hours depending on the means of transportation and traffic conditions.

Day 01: Hanoi/Bắc Kạn – Nàng Tiên Cave – Ba Bể Lake

06:00 – 06:30 | Departure

Depart from Hanoi or the center of Bắc Kạn. If traveling from Hanoi, it is advisable to leave early to have more time for sightseeing during the day.

11:30 – 12:00 | Lunch in Bắc Kạn or Na Rì

Stop for lunch, you can choose local dishes such as wild vegetables, buffalo meat, stream fish, hill chicken, or dishes from the Tày ethnic group.

13:00 – 15:00 | Visit Nàng Tiên Cave – Na Rì

Travel to Nàng Tiên Cave, located in the Na Rì area. This is a famous natural cave associated with the legend of seven fairies descending to the mortal world to bathe and have fun. The cave is about 60m deep inside the mountain, with an entrance about 6m high, featuring many stalactites, stone columns, and a cool, mystical atmosphere.

Here, you can take photos, listen to the introduction about the legend of Nàng Tiên Cave, explore the natural stalactite formations, and feel the tranquil atmosphere inside the cave.

15:00 – 17:30 | Travel to Ba Bể Lake tourist area

After visiting Nàng Tiên Cave, continue traveling to the Ba Bể Lake area. On the way, you can stop to take photos of the mountainous scenery, terraced fields, and local villages.

18:00 – 19:00 | Check-in at homestay

It is advisable to choose a homestay in Pác Ngòi village, Bó Lù, or an area near the lake for convenience in sightseeing the next day.

Day 02: Explore Ba Bể Lake – Return

This is an experience not to be missed when visiting Ba Bể as it helps visitors fully appreciate the peaceful beauty of the lake area.

You can also combine visiting some highlights around the lake such as Bà Góa Island, Tiên Pond, An Mạ Temple, Puông Cave, or Đầu Đẳng Waterfall if time permits.

Have lunch at the homestay or a local restaurant. You can buy additional specialties as souvenirs such as dried bamboo shoots, dong vermicelli, sausage, smoked buffalo meat, and seasonal wild vegetables.

Get on the bus back to Hanoi or the starting point. End of the itinerary visiting Nàng Tiên Cave – Ba Bể Lake.

Small Note

It is advisable to wear sports shoes or sandals with good grip as the cave and stairs may be a bit slippery. Bring a light jacket as it can be quite cool in the cave and at night in Ba Bể.
