Ang Toòng Cave – A mesmerizing stalactite masterpiece in the heart of the rocky mountains of Bắc Kạn.

Hidden beneath the majestic limestone mountain ranges of Áng Toòng Pass, Áng Toòng Cave is considered one of the most beautiful and magical caves in Bắc Kạn. With its shimmering stalactites, vast space, and pristine beauty that has hardly been affected by mass tourism, this place gives a feeling of stepping into another world deep within the mountains.

Not only is it an attractive destination for nature lovers, but Áng Toòng Cave is also evaluated as one of the caves with significant geological, landscape, and ecological tourism value in the Northeast region.

The cave was discovered during road construction

Áng Toòng Cave was discovered in 2011 during the construction of National Route 3B through the Áng Toòng Pass area. After several rounds of blasting to clear the road through the mountains, locals and workers unexpectedly found a small cave entrance leading down to a vast cave system deep within the limestone mountains.

Initially, very few people knew that inside the mountain existed such a magnificent space. The deeper one goes into the cave, the more strange-shaped stone stalagmites, stalactites, and formations appear, leaving many in awe of nature's wonders.

The magical world of stalactites beneath the mountain

Right from the entrance, Áng Toòng Cave creates a mysterious feeling with a quite small cave opening, just enough for individuals to descend one by one. However, the deeper one goes inside, the more the cave expands with high stone arches and large interconnected chambers.

The most prominent feature of the cave is the system of stalactites formed over millions of years of geological formation. The stone stalagmites come in various shapes and colors, some shimmering light gold like soft silk ribbons, while others are bright white like crystal flowers hanging from the cave ceiling.

Many visitors who step into the cave for the first time compare it to an "underground palace" due to its mysterious and majestic beauty created by nature.

A unique multi-tiered cave system

According to specialized surveys, Áng Toòng Cave is divided into two main levels with a quite special structure. The first level stretches about 120 meters from north to south, consisting of many consecutive chambers with spaces that are sometimes narrow and sometimes wide. The second level extends about 350 meters from east to west, opening up larger spaces with a rich system of stone stalagmites.

Inside the cave, there are also many underground water springs, large stone blocks, and natural corridors that create a feeling of a maze beneath the ground. The diversity of the structure makes Áng Toòng Cave an attractive destination for those who love exploring caves and studying geology.

Pristine beauty amidst the vast Northeast

Unlike many large-scale exploited tourist caves, Áng Toòng Cave still retains most of its natural beauty.

Without artificial colored lighting or large-scale constructions inside the cave, this place still offers a wild and authentic feeling. The light from flashlights reflects on the stalactite formations, creating shimmering and magical colors, making each step of exploration a surprising experience.

This original beauty has led many to liken Áng Toòng Cave to a "treasure" still hidden among the forests of Bắc Kạn.

National scenic site

Thanks to its outstanding values in landscape and geology, Áng Toòng Cave was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Scenic Site in 2013.

This recognition not only contributes to the preservation of this precious cave system but also opens up potential for ecological tourism and nature exploration in the Áng Toòng Pass area in the future.

The journey of exploration amidst the majestic Áng Toòng Pass

Áng Toòng Cave is located near the Áng Toòng Pass area – one of the beautiful and famous roads in Bắc Kạn. On the journey to the cave, visitors also have the opportunity to admire the majestic limestone mountain ranges, vast green forests, and Nà Noọc waterfall (also known as Bạc waterfall) situated halfway up the pass.

The combination of the spectacular winding road, the magical cave, and the pristine natural landscape has created one of the most attractive destinations in the Northeast region.

An mysterious world awaits exploration

Amidst the overlapping limestone mountains of Bắc Kạn, Áng Toòng Cave stands out as a masterpiece that nature has silently created over millions of years.

The vibrant stalactites, deep chambers, and the mysterious space beneath the mountain make this place a special destination for explorers.

If you have the chance to conquer Áng Toòng Pass, don't miss the opportunity to visit Áng Toòng Cave to witness one of the most beautiful and magical caves in the land of Bắc Kạn.
