Con Co Island: The Emerald Gem in the East Sea and the Epic Poem of Quang Land

Con Co Island: The Emerald Gem in the East Sea and the Epic Poem of Quang Land Amidst the vast waves of the East Sea, there is a small island appearing green like a fallen emerald. That is Con Co – an island that not only possesses pristine beauty but also symbolizes resilience, a sacred landmark of the homeland. Located 30km from the mainland, Con Co today is strongly rising, becoming an ideal destination for those who yearn to return to the essence of nature and history.

1. The golden coordinates of the young "Special Zone" Located at the southern gateway of the Gulf of Tonkin, Con Co Island plays an extremely important geopolitical role on the baseline of Vietnam's territorial waters. Position: About 17 nautical miles from Cua Viet port and only 13 nautical miles from Mui Lay (Vinh Linh). New vision: From June 2025, Con Co has officially been upgraded to a Special Zone under Quang Tri province, opening a new chapter for high-class but sustainable infrastructure and tourism. Transportation: With a high-speed boat from Cua Viet port, you only need about 1.5 – 2 hours on the sea to set foot on this unique basalt island.

2. The "gem" created from volcanic remnants Why is Con Co likened to the "gem in the East Sea"? The answer lies in the wonders of nature: Unique geology: The island was formed from volcanic eruptions over 40,000 years ago. The pitch-black basalt foundation combined with the green of the forest and the jade color of the sea creates an impressive natural color palette. Eternal green island: More than 70% of the island's area is covered by a rare three-layer primary forest. Viewed from above, Con Co looks like a lush green leaf floating in the ocean, providing an absolutely fresh atmosphere.

3. Unmissable natural masterpieces Con Co is not for noise. This place is for experiences that touch the emotions: Primary forest & Heritage trees: The canopies of ancient phong ba and square mangrove trees shelter the island through many stormy seasons, creating a "green lung" that is cool year-round. Legendary basalt rocks: The glossy black stone terraces interspersed with pure white coral create check-in spots with wild and mysterious beauty. Crystal-clear waters: A place where you can immerse yourself in tranquility, listen to the breath of the sea, and find balance for your soul.

4. The "palace" beneath the ocean The most remarkable feature that astonishes visitors when coming to Con Co is the marine ecosystem among the richest in the Gulf of Tonkin: Vibrant coral reefs: With over 113 species of corals, from rare red and black corals to horn corals and plate corals... Con Co resembles a shimmering city beneath the water. Biodiversity: This is the habitat of dolphins, sea turtles, and hundreds of colorful reef fish. The marine reserve (over 4,500 ha) is strictly protected, ensuring the original beauty is not affected by humans.

5. The journey connecting the past and the future Coming to Con Co is to encounter heroic stories. Every inch of land, every tree here is soaked with the sweat and blood of ancestors during the years of island defense. To make the journey more meaningful, visitors can explore the beautiful "hidden corners" of the island's special zone.

As a child of Quang Tri and a "specialist" in imagery (like your passion for images), I believe that Con Co is the most valuable resource for you to create great films or unique design collections. The emerald green of the island and the deep red of the national flag atop Con Co will surely be an endless source of inspiration!
