LAO BẢO MARKET – THE CULTURAL COLOR OF THE BORDER REGION EVERY SATURDAY MORNING
Every Saturday morning, when the dew is still hanging over the Truong Son mountain range, Lao Bao Market (Hướng Hóa district, Quảng Trị) is filled with the lively sounds of laughter and conversation from people on both sides of the Vietnam – Laos border. This is not only a place for trading highland goods but also a unique cultural space where life, cuisine, and human connections intertwine.
From specialty dishes rich in mountain flavors like fermented rice, wild honey, dried bananas, Khe Sanh coffee, to the handicrafts of the Vân Kiều – Pa Kô people, all create a vibrant and soulful picture of the border market.
In particular, visitors can also enjoy Lao cuisine right in the heart of Lao Bao – from grilled sticky rice, Savanakhet chicken to the enticing spicy lap.
