Thach Han River Flower Dock – A place where everyone naturally slows down a few beats.
There are places where standing still for just a few minutes is enough for one to feel many things. The Thạch Hãn River in Quảng Trị is one such place.
Today, many tourists come to the flower releasing dock on the Thạch Hãn River to enjoy the scenery, release lanterns, and participate in the night tour of Quảng Trị. But behind that peaceful facade lies a river that has gone through the most brutal years of war.

During the 81 days and nights of defending the Quảng Trị Citadel in 1972, Thạch Hãn was the lifeline transporting food, medicine, ammunition, and troops to the battlefield. When the Quảng Trị bridge was controlled by bombs, the boats crossing the river at night became the only lifeline to supply the Citadel.
Amidst the heavy bombardment, the transport soldiers and local people continuously paddled boats, tied rafts made of bamboo, wood, or banana trunks to deliver goods and bring the wounded and fallen soldiers back to the rear. Some trips never returned.
Today, standing by the Thạch Hãn River, it is hard to imagine that this peaceful place was once a "fire coordinate." In the evening, the lights reflect on the water's surface, the sound of bells rings out in the quiet space, and hundreds of lanterns drift slowly along the river, creating a scene that is both beautiful and heart-wrenching for many.

The special feature of Thạch Hãn does not lie in its liveliness or crowds, but in the very unique feeling one has when stepping here. Many tourists share that only when they directly release a lantern into this river do they truly feel the value of peace today.
Currently, the flower releasing dock on the Thạch Hãn River is located within the special national relic complex of the Quảng Trị Citadel and has become a destination with profound gratitude. Every year on July 27, this place shines brightly with the lantern festival in memory of the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for national independence.

If you have the chance to visit Quảng Trị, try to spend an evening by the Thạch Hãn River. There are places that do not need too many recreational activities to be remembered for a long time… just because of the stories that remain beneath that river. ✨ ------------
